The Da Vinci Code’s Sonoma Connection
12 May 2006 -- Be on the lookout for
a Sonoma connection when the long-awaited movie
version of author Dan Brown’s best selling novel,
The Da Vinci Code, premiers on May 19.
The connection is BeautifulPlaces, a Sonoma-based
lodging company that represents Château Villette,
a palatial 17th-century estate near Paris that
plays a pivotal role in Brown’s popular fiction.
It is at Château Villette that one of the novel’s
main characters, Sir Leigh Teabing, reveals
the central secret contained in The Da Vinci
Code – a secret with the power to shake Christianity
to its foundations.
Often called “Little Versailles” because it
was designed and landscaped by two of the men
who built Versailles, fully restored 17-bedroom
Château Villette has been a member of BeautifulPlaces’
wine country villa connection since 2005.
BeautifulPlaces is a food-and-wine-oriented
hospitality company that offers luxury villas
and unique epicurean experiences to Sonoma and
Napa wine country travelers. It began representing
Château Villette when its owner, noted Bay Area
real estate agent Olivia Hsu Decker, sought
out West Coast marketing representation for
the property.
The château, which rents for $60,000 per week,
accommodates a range of uses, from reunions,
family getaways and business meetings to weddings
and retreats.
