Heaven Hill - Sonoma County

What we love about Heaven Hill

Heaven Hill is more than just a villa; it is a glorious setting that invites you to be swept up in the good life of Sonoma’s Valley of the Moon. Designed and decorated for hospitality of the highest calibre, the Heaven Hill area was once a magnet for Hollywood stars and public figures of the 1930s and 40s, who were drawn to the allure and lavish lifestyle that accompanied this pocket of Wine Country. Upon arriving at this four+ bedroom estate, you are greeted by a grand circular driveway with a flowing stone fountain in its center, indicative of the elegance that awaits you. This 7,170-square-foot-home welcomes you inside with a Swarovski crystal chandelier hovering above the foyer, a magnificent center piece that catches the day’s sun rays to project a rainbow of reflections across the walls, and makes the house come alive with glimmering radiance come night time. Just beyond the foyer, a 40-foot-high atrium rises above the central great room, no doubt the place you will find yourself gathered again and again with good friends, family and a bottle of Sonoma Valley wine.

Off of the great room is the gourmet kitchen, its gold leaf trimmed cabinetry and marble counters the setting for stainless steel appliances and a professional grade workspace; whether cooking with friends or arranging for a private chef to create fantastic meals from locally sourced ingredients, the kitchen serves as the hub of the home and one that will inspire many a sit-down feasts. When slumber calls, make your way up one of the villa’s two staircases and choose among three en-suite bedrooms, two of which are located on one side of the house while the master is located on the other off of the spiral staircase, well-appointed with a sauna, double vanities, shower and outdoor balcony.

Good to Know

For groups traveling with extended family members, Heaven Hill has more than enough sleeping quarters to accommodate everyone. Just steps away from the main house is a 1 bedroom guest house and a separate pool house containing a huge kitchen, outdoor dining area, sofa sleeper with a full stall shower and bath. Glass doors lead out to a small trellised patio, and on the other side, to the bower. A curved stone balustrade overlooks the pool with steps leading down to the entertainment terrace. Taking in the surrounding Sonoma Valley views is easy at Heaven Hill — lounge poolside on a plush reclining chair, stroll through the grounds to the ornate gazebo, sit back on one of the multi-level decks or organize a friendly game of Bocce ball on your very own court. The alfresco dining table and grill make it easy to dine under the stars and cozy up next to the fire pit once the sun drops down. Conceived to offer a wide variety of spaces in which to experience the benign climate, the nine-acre estate at Heaven Hill draws visitors from all over the world for its tranquil vistas, fresh air setting and sense of privacy amidst the valley.

Eat, Drink & Play

8 miles from the sought after downtown of Sonoma, and even closer to the charming hamlet of Glen Ellen, Heaven Hill is within close reach to some of Wine Country’s best hits. Slightly off of the well-trodden path, Glen Ellen is a coveted alcove of Sonoma where you will experience the true meaning of rustic charm. Made famous by dashing author Jack London who built his dream home here, a pastoral quality still permeates the village and its surrounding vineyards and vines. The natural bounty of produce and wine has captivated innovators in wine country cuisine like Sondra Bernstein, who began her foodie empire in Glen Ellen, which now includes The Girl & the Fig restaurant in Sonoma and the Fig Café and Wine Bar in Glen Ellen, a friendly dinner spot that is a favorite with locals and visitors for its fresh ingredients and no-corkage policy. A picnic is sure way to spend a sunny afternoon in the area — in the middle of town is the Glen Ellen Market, a treasure trove of locally grown fare, plus a mouth-watering selection of freshly prepared foods to go.
