Villa Carneros - Sonoma County
What we love about Villa Carneros
Poised amidst the vineyards of Attune Winery, Villa Carneros has all of the qualities you are looking for in your Northern California getaway. A short drive through the young vines brings you from the main road to the grand entrance of this single-story, plantation-style villa. Set in the heart of Sonoma County’s Carneros appellation, here you will enjoy seven acres of contemporary country living — spend your days gathered together on the columned porch wicker rocking chairs, lounging around the spa-equipped swimming pool, or sampling local varietals in your private tasting room when the mood strikes. Complete with five en-suite bedrooms, all of which have either direct porch access or views out to the vineyards, Villa Carneros is the perfect retreat for your large group of friends and family members. Only three miles to the charming shops, squares and world-famous restaurants of Sonoma, this centrally located address allows you to wine and dine at a whim or stay in and host your own private dinner party. Whatever the occasion, we are confident Villa Carneros will be just the rustic retreat to lay back, relax and experience the magic of Sonoma Valley.
Good to Know
The grapes surrounding Villa Carneros are those of Attune Vineyards — eight acres of meticulously planted and sustainably farmed field blends of heritage Burgundy Pinot Noir clones. Producing less than 600 cases of ultra-premium Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Rosé each year, Attune Wines is intent on making balanced wines with both structure and finesse, all under the guided watch of winemaker Kenneth Juhasz. A stay at Villa Carneros invites you into the world of wine, giving you a firsthand glimpse at the winemaking process from start to finish. Contemplate and savor the final Attune product in the villa’s spacious wine cellar, where a simple glass table is perched atop a wine barrel. This property is on a working vineyard. Vineyard workers may be seen during certain times of the year.
Eat, Drink & Play
More than a place, Sonoma Valley is a state of mind, with a culture that honors its roots as the birthplace of California’s premium wine industry. At its heart is the charming Sonoma town plaza - the largest in California - only 45 minutes from San Francisco and less than 10 minute from Villa Carneros. Ringed by boutiques, galleries, historic sites, and eateries that range from intimate cafes to four-star restaurants, the plaza is a hub for visitors and locals alike. Surrounded by vineyards, farms and groves of olive and fruit trees, there is no better place to put the top down on the car, cruise the open country roads and sample organic delights from the numerous roadside food stands. Of course, a trip to Sonoma wouldn’t be complete without a stop or two at the nearby wineries for a private tour and tasting of the lush reds and crisp whites that this region is so famous for. Some of our favorite spots within just minutes of Villa Carneros include:
- Fremont Diner
A contemporary take on the classic American diner, this food joint is a must-visit while in the area, offering menu items like shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and homemade biscuits and gravy
- Sonoma TrainTown Railroad
Families know to head to Train Town for a joyous day of nostalgic fun on one of the largest rideable scale model trains in the country.
- Sonoma Plaza
Cruise around Sonoma’s central square by foot or bicycle, where every corner surprises you with a romantic cafe, an old adobe storefront, a shaded picnic spot or live music and fine dining
- Cafe la Haye
Dine at the charming, Zagat-rated bistro that is Cafe la Haye for seasonal, chef-selected American dishes
- Nicholson Ranch Winery
Great wine cave and views — nice wine too!
- Sonoma Valley Museum of Art
Hidden gem of a gallery with lots of quality and interesting pieces on display — definitely worth visiting
- Sebastiani Theatre
Old fashioned movie theatre and local venue
- Mission San Francisco Solano
Take a drive over to Mission San Francisco Solano, the last Spanish mission built in California. Sonoma’s historic wineries, Buena Vista and Gundlach-Bundschu were established shortly after the mission - over 150 years ago - and mark the birthplace of the premium wine industry in the U.S.
- The Girl & the Fig
Dine under the stars or choose an intimate spot indoors at this popular local restaurant serving country food with a French passion
- El Dorado Kitchen
Their beautiful outdoor garden is the setting for many a delicious alfresco breakfast, lunch or dinner
- Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards
Champagne is their forte and the veranda views are unbeatable
- Sonoma Market
Every local’s favorite grocery store, with an excellent deli, meat, seafood, artisanal bread and cheese selection
- Hanzell Winery
Called “one of the most influential producers in California’s winemaking history”, this is the winery our guests tell us is one of their favorite wine discoveries in Sonoma
- Sonoma Raceway
In one corner of the tranquil region of Sonoma, the roar of engines and squealing of tires signal that you’ve found Sonoma Raceway, scene of record-breaking auto and motorcycle races, and arguably the world’s busiest racing facility with 340 days a year of events
- Napa
The town of Napa blends an exciting urban view with a wine country lifestyle, a place where you can expect culinary adventures and world-class entertainment
- San Francisco
In under an hour, you can be crossing the iconic Golden Gate bridge and immersing yourself in the vibrant and fast-paced life of the city by the bay
