Jeriko Estate - Hopland, Mendocino County

This magnificent estate, originally built in 1898, was extensively redesigned and enlarged to create a panoramic showcase of California and Mediterranean architecture. Surrounded by 180 acres of prime vineyards and rolling hills, Jeriko Estate House is the perfect setting for celebrations, weddings and family gatherings.

Exterior

An exuberant melding of Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean influences, Jeriko Estate inhabits a beautiful valley, lush with vineyards, palm trees and tree-clad hills. The main home was built by a prominent San Franciscan in 1898 and when Daniel Fetzer, part of the pioneering winemaking family, took over the property, he not only expanded the residence—creating a 7,000-square-foot estate—he planted vineyards that are farmed with time-honored traditions.

The sprawling 180-acre ranch was designed for sustainability and is planted with biodynamically grown Pinot Noir, Cabernet and Chardonnay—the award-winning winery even makes a sparkling wine. The home overlooks the vineyards and is located in proximity to the Jeriko Estate Winery and tasting room.

A circular drive, manicured lawns, palm trees and fountains surround the home and a sparkling turquoise pool reflects the unending blue skies overhead. Peacocks strut through the grounds and the resort-like feel is enhanced by Mendocino’s benevolent climate—exhilarating springtimes, sun-drenched summers and the lovely, long fall days of Indian Summer.

With its red-tiled roof, white columns and numerous verandas and balconies, Jeriko Estate is a place of celebration and welcome.

Interior

Jeriko Estate’s expansive 6BD/5.5BA home is a joyous setting for celebrations or gatherings with family and friends. The 7,000-square-foot villa has a flowing design that makes it perfect for entertaining with wine country flair.

A two-story cathedral entrance greets guests and marble floors gleam in the light streaming from windows in the grand entryway. An ornate balustrade overlooks the foyer and tapestries hang on the walls—a picture perfect backdrop.

The six bedroom suites are all named for wines, with subtle décor details such as the white canopy bed in the Chardonnay suite. Each bedroom has views of the grounds and the master has its own fireplace for romantic evenings together and a private veranda.

Caterers or private chefs will delight in the gourmet kitchen, which can easily accommodate large parties and has its own wood-fired pizza oven and fireplace. Friends can prepare a meal together made with ingredients from farms nearby and pair it with wines from the Jeriko vineyards; then enjoy it in the connecting dining room or alfresco on the patio or by the pool.

The huge brick fireplace in the family room provides a cheerful gathering spot for conversation or quiet time, or guests can choose to engage in a lighthearted billiard competition on a hand-carved table. There is a place for everyone to indulge their interests here.

Jeriko Estate was designed to work equally well for the excitement of an elegant wedding ceremony or the tranquil relaxation of a friends’ getaway vacation. With its stunning scenery and gorgeous landscaping, this gracious dwelling is the ideal destination for your most memorable events.
