Borgo Pignano - Tuscany, Italy
In a world where “breathtaking” is almost commonplace, Borgo Pignano will leave you grasping for more superlatives. The villa is the gemstone of an exquisitely restored and renovated borghetto (small neighborhood), perched on a hilltop originally occupied by the ancient Etruscans.
The spacious and sumptuous villa sprawls across three floors. Each of its 17 luxurious bedrooms is distinctive – and elegantly appointed. The nod to modern comforts extends to the 22 bathrooms which blend gorgeous native stones and marble with gleaming, state-of-the art fixtures. Indoors and out, the villa offers seemingly endless, enticing spots for intimate or festive gatherings. There are several public sitting rooms, a grand ballroom with balcony, a medieval banquet room, a library and a music room, drawing and dining rooms (all with fireplaces), a billiard room, gym, a cinema room, children's playroom, a massage/therapy room, meditation room, an internal courtyard, and two kitchens. Or climb the villa’s perfect little tower to take in the views from Monte Amiata to Corsica on a clear day. Drink in the views as well as you stroll through one of several gardens to a dazzling swimming pool, carved from an ancient limestone quarry. The magic continues with an infinity edge that seems to spill into the hillside below. Steps away lies the 13th century church of San Bartolomeo. There’s even a bocce ball court.
This divine and enchanting residence is at the heart of a small community’s commitment to living a healthy life in harmony with nature. The residents, who live outside the Villa, work the more than 600 acres which surround it. The land is divided into woods, fields with organically grown crops, ponds and vegetable gardens. You’ll enjoy this bounty as the villa’s Tuscan cook delights you with her range and expertise of Italian organic cuisine, with foods made from local sources and neighboring farms. Bread, honey, jams, wine, olive oil, soaps, toiletries, and other herbal products are all made from natural sources from the estate and the surrounding areas.
The quest for leaving a light footprint is also reflected in the restoration and operation of the villa: the use of only natural renders and paints, solar panels for heating and hot water, a salt water pool with minimal chemicals, and a constant eye to managing consumption and recycling.
Indulge..And, feel good about it.

"We are back home and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Borgo Pignano! They are all such lovely people, the villa is incredible, and they were able to accommodate my son's dietary needs very well. He ate every meal there! I would highly recommend this villa and also love their sustainability and organic farms as well. I brought home some honey from their hives as well. "
