Tree Top Modern - Sonoma County

This simple yet stunning example of thoughtful architecture rests within a special nook of Sonoma Valley, perfectly quiet and private, with distant views. The design is precise, tasteful, and exacting in its execution with unexpected details throughout.

Walking into the estate from the crushed granite driveway and through a private wood gate, you find yourself on the beautiful pool deck of the home. With simple and sustainable landscaping, a heated (Memorial Day through Labor Day) irregular shaped pool, pool shed, deck with outdoor couch, seating and lounge chairs, this is a great place to spend an afternoon.

Remodeled from the ground up 2019, Tree Top Modern takes advantage of every square inch of space within this estate. An open-air atrium, perfect for your morning yoga, is the focal point of entry, with the entertaining and living rooms on one side, and sleeping rooms on the other. Both sides have floor-to-ceiling windows and doors opening onto decks all around.

Entering the main living space of the great room, all eyes are drawn to the expansive views from the floor to ceiling windows visible from the kitchen, dining and living areas. The kitchen design is perfect for the chef, whether by profession or passion, with mise en place, baking, and cooking stations, as well as ample cabinets and shelving for storage. This chef's kitchen includes three dishwashers, Wolf range, two ovens plus warming oven, Sub Zero refridgerator and two smaller refridgerators. All appliances and cabinets were thoughtfully crafted and placed, for active kitchen use, but also to allow for unobstructed views of the outdoors. Stepping from the kitchen to the dining area with it’s soft ring lighting over the table you’ll find some of the best views in the house and a wood burning stove. To the left of the dining area is the living room with wine fridge, comfortable chairs and couches, office desk area, television, wood burning stove, wine fridge, stereo system (Sonos throughout) and a full bathroom with bathtub.

The bedroom area to the left of the atrium has 3 bedrooms along one hall. First is a queen room with full bathroom including rain shower and an artfully shaped corner tub, walk-in shower and water closet. The next bedroom in the hall has a pocket door and is also a queen bed and uses either the laundry room half bathroom or the living room full bathroom. Each of these bedrooms include exterior access to the deck, closets with automatic lighting, air conditioning units and views that make you feel as if you’re sleeping among the trees.

Beyond the queen rooms is the master suite with king four poster bed, wood burning stove, sitting area, beautiful views and decks and it’s own private soaking hot tub sunken into the deck. The master bathroom is clean and bright and has its own indoor soaking tub (in case you just want to stay inside!) double vanity and walk in steam shower.

At the front of the home is the garage, additional entryway, fully equipped laundry room and a powder room/half bath.

Down landscaped path and stairs off the pool deck is an additional apartment tucked into the hillside, not visible from the main house, with a curved wall of windows and a living green roof. This room has its own small patio, kitchenette, dining area, gas fireplace with remote, sitting area, TV and king bed. As is true of the main house, the guest house is positioned to capture expansive views, expressing the owner’s desire for privacy from and for guests.

The property is ideal both as a home and a retreat, in perfect harmony with the natural world outside, beautifully framed by expansive, soaring windows. Multiple decks, a heated pool, and walking trails complete this escape from modern life.
