Lomita Estate - Sonoma County

What we love about Lomita Estate

More than a villa, Lomita Estate is a remarkable wine country historic estate – thoroughly modernized for today’s gracious lifestyle – making it ideal for entertaining and hosting family and friends.

You will want to take daily strolls through the lush landscape discovering hidden nooks and formal gardens; dramatic sculpture; a dedicated vegetable and fruit tree area; places to sit and enjoy the vineyard views; and a special children’s area with play structure and in-ground trampoline. But the centerpiece to the outdoors is the resort-style pool with a dramatic carved stone “diving” board inspired by the movie, The Lion King. The oversized pool is surrounded by multiple plush seat areas, spa, bocce court and a large pool pavilion designed for entertaining with kitchen, BBQ, pizza oven and dining tables.

The home’s outdoor areas feature two large covered seating areas perfect for lazy days and cool evenings. Inside, the sprawling sun-filled interior was designed for comfort with multiple living and dining areas; a modern gourmet kitchen and 7+ bedrooms.

Though you’ll never want to leave this wine country paradise, the busy town of Sonoma filled with charming shops, tasting rooms and restaurants is just two miles away and some of the area’s top vineyards and attractions are a short drive.

Good to Know

There is plenty of room for multi-generational families with 6 bedrooms in main house including two bedrooms with custom built-in bunks each with two twin and two full beds. On the lower level of the pool pavilion is a guest apartment with a bedroom, kitchen, living room and small room with two bunks. Designed for entertaining the pool pavilion’s outdoor dining area features sit down dining and overhead heaters for cool nights. Inside the pool house is a kitchen area at one end and changing rooms, a shower and several bathroom stalls at the other.

Eat, Drink & Play

More than a place, Sonoma Valley is a state of mind, with a culture that honors its roots as the birthplace of California’s premium wine industry. At its heart is the charming Sonoma town plaza - the largest in California - only 45 minutes from San Francisco and less than 10 minutes from Lomita Estate. Ringed by boutiques, galleries, historic sites, and eateries that range from intimate cafes to four-star restaurants, the plaza is a hub for visitors and locals alike. Surrounded by vineyards, farms and groves of olive and fruit trees, there is no better place to put the top down on the car, cruise the open country roads and sample organic delights from the numerous roadside food stands. Of course, a trip to Sonoma wouldn’t be complete without a stop or two at the nearby wineries for a private tour and tasting of the lush reds and crisp whites that this region is so famous for. Some of our favorite spots in the Sonoma area include:
  • Hanzell Winery
Called “one of the most influential producers in California’s winemaking history”, this is the winery our guests tell us is one of their favorite wine discoveries in Sonoma. Guests staying at Lomita Estate are in luck, Hanzell is just a few minutes up the private road from Lomita Estate.
  • Fremont Diner
A contemporary take on the classic American diner, this food joint is a must-visit while in the area, offering menu items like shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and homemade biscuits and gravy.
  • Sonoma Train Town Railroad
Families know to head to Train Town for a joyous day of nostalgic fun on one of the largest rideable scale model trains in the country.
  • Sonoma Plaza
Cruise around Sonoma’s central square by foot or bicycle, where every corner surprises you with a romantic cafe, an old adobe storefront, a shaded picnic spot or live music and fine dining.
  • Cafe la Haye
Dine at the charming, Zagat-rated bistro that is Cafe la Haye for seasonal, chef-selected American dishes.
  • Nicholson Ranch Winery
Great wine cave and views — nice wine too!
  • Sonoma Valley Museum of Art
Hidden gem of a gallery with lots of quality and interesting pieces on display — definitely worth visiting.
  • Sebastiani Theatre
Old fashioned movie theatre and local venue.
  • Mission San Francisco Solano
Take a drive over to Mission San Francisco Solano, the last Spanish mission built in California. Sonoma’s historic wineries, Buena Vista and Gundlach-Bundschu were established shortly after the mission - over 150 years ago - and mark the birthplace of the premium wine industry in the U.S.
  • The Girl & the Fig
Dine under the stars or choose an intimate spot indoors at this popular local restaurant serving country food with a French passion.
  • El Dorado Kitchen
Their beautiful outdoor garden is the setting for many a delicious alfresco breakfast, lunch or dinner.
  • Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards
Champagne is their forte and the veranda views are unbeatable.
  • Sonoma Market
Every local’s favorite grocery store, with an excellent deli, meat, seafood, artisanal bread and cheese selection
  • Sonoma Raceway
In one corner of the tranquil region of Sonoma, the roar of engines and squealing of tires signal that you’ve found Sonoma Raceway, scene of record-breaking auto and motorcycle races, and arguably the world’s busiest racing facility with 340 days a year of events.
  • Napa
It is a short 25 minute drive from the town of Sonoma to the town of Napa blends an exciting urban view with a wine country lifestyle, a place where you can expect culinary adventures and world-class entertainment.
  • San Francisco
In under an hour, you can be crossing the iconic Golden Gate bridge and immersing yourself in the vibrant and fast-paced life of the city by the bay.
